Welcome to a fantastic week of hiking in one of the most original areas of the Tyrol. The Gschnitzdal valley is one of the few valleys that bears the title "Bergsteigerdörfer", which is a seal of quality for sustainable tourism, issued by the international association of the Alps (Alpenverein). The valley is only 30 minutes by car south of Innsbruck, and at an altitude of 1.240 m. The west flank of the valley is surrounded by peaks of more than 3000m, partially covered with glaciers, which form the border with Italy in the south and Stubaital in the north.
To have some previous experience in high mountains will make you really appreciate this trip. We walk around 7 hours per day, at an altitude of between 1,300m and 3,000m, and the daily slopes are around 1,100m. The pace is calm but going on for quiete a long period and the climbs are heavy in some sections. The temperature varies very significantly since it is affected by altitude. It can rain and lower the temperature drastically. It is important to bring warm clothes. On some trekks are some airy passages wich are perfectly secured, but might be a problem for people with fear of hights.
The order and content of the described program may vary and be altered according to the guide's criteria and depending on the weather forecasts, for organizational reasons and for the physical condition and pace of the group.
We collaborate with the Spanish agency Trekking y Avventura and Pathfindertravels from Sweden, please contact them if you need support to manage your plane tickets to the Tyrol.
